MIL-STD-1553 Aircraft Test Set

With serviceability of key importance for today’s military aircraft, and the difficulty of removing the databus harnessing systems, the Aircraft Test Set enables the ground staff to ensure aircraft availability.

Designed for ‘O’ level use, the Aircraft Test Set is totally self contained and is used for the testing and repair of any databus harness system.

The platform specific test set enables ground support staff to diagnose and locate harnessing faults, such as crossovers, short to shield, open and short circuits. The databus repair kit contained in the test set allows the possibility of maintenance in a timely and efficient manner.

Expensive down time of the aircraft can be minimised by checking the databus wiring system, prior to returning the avionics units to ‘I’ level or beyond for fault finding and repair.

As well as a diagnostic tool, the test set can be used for preventative maintenance by producing a footprint of the aircraft databus harnessing system, which can be utilised as comparative data at major services.

The complete test set is contained in a lightweight, ruggedised transit case and is suitable for one-man operation. A full set of technical publications offer clear precise instructions for the operator.

EMC Compliance Filter Tester
In today’s evermore-powerful electromagnetic environment, the serviceability of those components, which contribute to the overall protection of equipment, is critically important.

Both HIRTA clearance for military aircraft or compliance with the harmonized external environment for civil aircraft, are required to be maintained throughout the aircraft’s operational life.

The TE6596/P provides the user with a powerful tool in the maintenance of aerospace EMC filters installed in most of today’s aircraft. Periodic testing of filters combined with other good EMC engineering practices should ensure that the effects of electromagnetic interference are kept to a minimum. This will consequently maintain the necessary clearances.

Testing of electrical filters, particularly if they are installed in connectors either integrated into black boxes or in looms has been difficult without dismantling the installation.

The TE 6596/P filter test set overcomes this difficulty by allowing the maintenance engineer to test insertion loss from one side of the connector only.

Maintenance of electrical filtering is just one part of the process of “compliance maintenance”, but an important one. Degradation of, or failure of, filtering components results in that equipment being more susceptible to the external electromagnetic environment in which it is operating.

Automatic Fuel System Test Set
The testing and validation of an aircraft’s fuel system is one essential part of the regular maintenance schedule. The BCF Designs Automatic Fuel System Test Set has been designed to be compatible with all aircraft types, and provides a fast, accurate and repeatable solution for the cost effective testing of aircraft fuel systems.

The DE8490 Test Set is accessed and controlled via simple menu driven software specific to each aircraft type. This ensures that the testing protocol used is always consistent, which in turn allows the user to accurately diagnose any faults in the aircraft fuel system. The DE8490 automatically stores all the test data, which can subsequently be downloaded for review, fault and repair tracking.

The equipment will test both AC and DC capacitance fuel systems. Depending upon aircraft test requirements the DE8490 can measure or simulate fuel quantity and consequently gauge accuracy. Connection to the aircraft is achieved via existing lead sets and a multipole connector, or by using the supplied co-axial cables. An adaptor interface cable can also be supplied if required to match any other existing connector and harness construction. The Test Set is self-calibrating using highly accurate and stable in-built capacitors. It can be powered from any mains AC supply, aircraft DC supply or by using the rechargeable internal battery.
